Run a quick 3-minute check on your theme to ensure full functionality

Updated over 8 months ago

Once you have activated the EliteCart app in any of your themes, it's time to do a quick test.

Don't want to do it yourself? Just let us know and we'll do it for you 😊

EliteCart works with most themes out of the box.

If you use a Theme by Shopify like Dawn, Ride, Spotlight, Sense or others, you can safely skip this whole article. Same goes for themes by Archetype Themes.

If you use another theme from the app store, or a custom-developed theme, please read ahead. Since EliteCart overwrites your theme's standard cart functionality, and themes can be quite different from one another, we recommend you to do a quick check as follows:

View the theme where you have activated EliteCart. This can be your live-theme or any other theme.

  • If this is your live theme, just visit your store's homepage.

  • If this is a non-live theme, open that theme in preview mode.

Check Open Cart functionality

  1. Click the open cart button most themes have at the top right. This should open EliteCart.

  2. Click on the X in the top right of EliteCart to close it. Make sure, there is no other cart visible.

Check the Cart Bubble

The cart bubble is a small dot, or another way of showing your customers if they have a product in the cart - exactly where you just clicked in the "open cart" functionality. Some themes even show numbers to indicate the amount of products in the cart. Make sure that, once you added a product to the cart, this bubble still works correctly.

Check Add-to-Cart functionality

  1. Go to a product page and click "add to cart". EliteCart should open and the product should be visible in the cart.

  2. If you allow your customers to choose a product quantity or have products with multiple variants, choose a quantity other than 1 and a non-default variant. Then, again, click add to cart and make sure the correct product was added to EliteCart.

  3. If you have quick-shop features activated in your theme, view a collection, and use the quick-shop feature to add a product to cart.

Troubleshooting:

If any of the above steps has failed, do the following:

  • Open your theme customer and check whether you can choose between different cart display types. If possible, choose Cart Page, rather than Drawer, Popup, Slide-Cart or similar. Save, get back to your preview and test again.

  • If it still doesn't work, just contact us and we'll fix it :)
