Here are some creative scenarios for using EliteCart's reward bar:
Assuming you offer Free Standard Shipping within the European Union (EU) with different thresholds set in customer's local currencies. For orders within Germany you even offer Free Express shipping over 200€. And do not at all ship outside the EU.
To achieve this scenario, you can set up multiple shipping rewards based on different countries or regions using EliteCarts Shopify Market Settings:
Reward 1: Standard shipping for EU countries.
50€ threshold in store currency
400 DKK threshold for Danish customers
500 SEK threshold for Swedish customers
....
Show this reward only in EU countries
Reward 2: Express shipping for Germany only.
Set a 200€ threshold.
Show this reward only in Germany.
German customers will now see 2 rewards displayed, at 50€ and 200€. Danish customers would see one reward displayed at 400DKK only, Swedish customers at 500SEK.
This allows you to offer tailored shipping incentives to customers in different markets.
Shipping Thresholds for Multiple Markets
Setting up shipping thresholds for multiple markets
Offer a shipping reward for certain countries, while providing a discount reward for all customers:
Reward 1: Standard shipping for EU countries, based on a threshold in EUR (similar to above).
Reward 2: 5% off for orders over €100. Use a Discount (advanced) reward. Its per-reward Shopify Markets card lets you set market-specific thresholds and restrict visibility by country, all without any Shopify-side discount setup.
Incentivize customers with a free product, but set different spend thresholds based on the market:
Reward 1: Product X as gift for orders over
$100 USD in the United States
$200 CAD in Canada
Offer up to 3 different free products based on the customer's region:
Reward 1: Product X for orders over €100 in EU countries. Hide for other regions.
Reward 2: Product Y for orders over $200 in the US. Hide for other regions.
Reward 3: Product Z for orders over ¥15000 in Japan. Hide for other regions.
Set up each free product as a separate reward and then restrict visibility by market.
Offer increasingly valuable free gifts as customers reach higher spend thresholds:
Reward 1: Free gift A for orders over $50
Reward 2: Free gift B (higher value) for orders over $100
Reward 3: Free gift C (highest value) for orders over $200
This tiered approach incentivizes customers to add more to their cart to earn the premium gifts. Note that gifts will not replace each other. So a customer shopping for over $200 will get all three gifts.
Offer progressively higher discounts as customers add more to their cart:
Reward 1: 5% off orders over $50
Reward 2: 10% off orders over $100
Reward 3: 15% off orders over $200
This tiered discount structure encourages customers to spend more to unlock bigger savings. It's a powerful way to increase your average order value.
Offering free gifts can get complicated with international orders due to customs and import regulations. To simplify things, you can hide free gift rewards for customers outside your domestic market:
Reward 1: Free gift for orders over $75 (hidden for non-US orders)
Reward 2: Free shipping for US orders over $50
Reward 3: Free shipping for international orders over $100
Use the Shopify Market settings in EliteCart to hide Reward 1 from customers outside the US and Canada. This way, your international customers still see appealing free shipping offers, while avoiding any potential customs issues with free gifts.
Partner with a charity and offer to make a donation when customers reach a spend threshold:
Reward 1: We'll donate $5 to Charity X for orders over $100
Simply set up a Shopify product with value $0. You can set the compare_at_price to $5 USD. Then choose this product as a gift. Mark the gift as "not physical", so it does not await fulfilment from your end.
You're running a Klaviyo email campaign offering subscribers a free gift. You want only email subscribers to see the gift, and you don't want it cluttering the reward bar for regular visitors.
Setup:
Create a Multi gift reward with a $50 threshold
Add your gift products
In Conditions, add: "utm_campaign equals klaviyo-spring-gift"
Check "Hide this reward in the reward bar"
In your Klaviyo email, link to your store with ?utm_campaign=klaviyo-spring-gift
Result: Only subscribers who click through from the email see the gift chooser when they reach $50. The reward bar shows your regular rewards without the hidden gift tier.
You want to offer a lower free shipping threshold on weekends to boost weekend sales.
Setup:
Create a Shipping reward with a $30 threshold (lower than your regular $50 threshold)
In Scheduling, add a rule: Saturday–Sunday, all day
Keep your regular $50 shipping reward active (it shows on weekdays)
Result: On weekends, customers see the $30 free shipping goal. On weekdays, the regular $50 threshold applies.
You want to offer a special gift only to customers who are logged in, encouraging account creation.
Setup:
Create a Single gift reward with your desired threshold
In Conditions, add: "Customer is logged in"
Optionally hide from reward bar if you communicate this via email or account page
Result: Only logged-in customers see (or receive) the gift reward. Guest shoppers see your standard rewards.
You want to offer a bonus gift when customers add items from your "Summer Collection" to their cart.
Setup:
Create a Multi gift reward
In Conditions, add: "Collection is in cart" and select your Summer Collection
Optionally set a minimum quantity (e.g., at least 2 items from the collection)
Result: The bonus gift only appears when customers have Summer Collection items in their cart, encouraging collection exploration.
You sell apparel and accessories. Accessories are low-margin, so you only want to offer free shipping when customers spend enough on apparel — not when their cart is full of $5 socks.
Setup:
Create a Shipping reward with a $75 threshold
In the Threshold card, open Scope threshold and pick Specific collections
Select your "Apparel" collection
Click Save
Result: The reward bar only makes progress when apparel is added to the cart. A customer with $80 of accessories sees the bar sit at 0% — they have to add apparel to unlock free shipping. A customer with $75 of apparel plus any amount of accessories qualifies.
Tip: The bar can look non-linear when a scoped reward sits next to an unscoped one — adding accessories moves the overall cart total but doesn't advance the apparel-scoped bar. Preview the reward bar before publishing to make sure the experience is clear.
You want to run "Spend $100 on Skincare, get $20 off Skincare" — a fully category-scoped discount on both ends.
Setup:
Create a Discount (advanced) reward with a $100 threshold
In the Threshold card, open Scope threshold → Specific collections → pick "Skincare"
In the Discount configuration card, set the discount type to Fixed amount and value $20
Below that, under Apply discount to, pick Specific collections → again pick "Skincare"
Click Save
Result: The customer only starts earning progress toward the discount when Skincare products are in their cart. Once they cross $100 in Skincare, the $20 discount is applied — and only to the Skincare line items.
This used to require setting up an "Amount off products" discount in Shopify Admin with careful tag management. You can now do the whole thing inside EliteCart, including the tiered version ("Spend $100 → $20 off; Spend $200 → $50 off") — create two rewards with the same Skincare scope and different thresholds.
You want to offer a free gift when customers buy three or more items from your "Starter Set" collection, regardless of how many other items they have in their cart.
Setup:
Under Cart designer → Rewards → Settings & design, set Threshold type to Item count
Add a Single gift (or Multi gift) reward with a threshold of 3
In the Threshold card, open Scope threshold → Specific collections → pick your "Starter Set" collection
Pick the gift product
Click Save
Result: Only Starter Set items count toward the 3-item threshold. A customer with 3 Starter Set items + 5 other products qualifies. A customer with 10 other products but 0 Starter Set items does not.
Note: Threshold type (cart total vs. item count) is a global setting that applies to every reward on the bar. If you want this "3 items from Starter Set" reward, every other reward on the bar will also be evaluated by item count. Plan your rewards around one type or the other before setting this up.
You want to offer a special discount or gift only to customers tagged "VIP" in Shopify.
Setup:
Create a reward with your desired type and threshold
In Conditions, add: "Customer has tag" and enter "VIP"
Optionally combine with other conditions (e.g. a specific collection in cart) for even more precise targeting
Result: Only logged-in customers with the "VIP" tag in Shopify see this reward. All other visitors see your standard rewards.
