As an online merchant, building trust with your customers is crucial for driving conversions and sales. That's why EliteCart offers powerful "Trust Enhancers" that allows you to prominently display trust signals right in your cart drawer.

By enabling these trust-building elements, you can help alleviate common customer concerns and hesitations during the checkout process. Let's dive into how to leverage this feature effectively.

Displaying Accepted Payment Providers

One of the easiest ways to build trust is by showing customers the payment methods you accept. This simple visual cue reassures them that they can pay with their preferred option. They might not inherently trust your store (chances are, they just landed in your store, but have never heard of you before), but they trust VISA, Mastercard and the like. They also know that providers like PayPal, Klarna, or credit card providers will protect them from fraudulent transactions.

In the "Trust Enhancers" settings, simply check the "Show Payment Providers" box. EliteCart will automatically display the payment icons for the providers activated in your Shopify store's payment settings, up to a maximum of 8 icons.

Adding a Trust Message

Sometimes a straightforward trust message is all you need to put customers' minds at ease. Use the "Trust Text" field to a brief statement. Here are some examples:

Reassuring policies:

  • "Secure Checkout Guaranteed"

Highlight quality and ethical practices:

  • "Made with Only Natural Ingredients"

Emphasize customer satisfaction:

  • "Loved by Customers Worldwide"

Reinforce expertise and authority:

  • "Industry-Leading Since 1995"

You can customize the text color to match your branding, or leave it blank to use your store's default color. This trust text will appear prominently below the checkout button, providing that critical confidence boost right where the decision is made.

The key is keeping the message concise yet impactful. A well-crafted trust statement can be the nudge customers need to confidently complete their orders.

Uploading a Trust Badge

If you want to go more visual, you can display a recognisable (or your own) trust badge or security seal. These could include icons for money-back guarantees, secure checkout, or verification by third-party companies like McAfee or TRUSTe.

First, upload your trust badge image to your Shopify store's files. In the left-hand menu click on Content > Files.

Then click (1) Upload Files, select it and wait for it to upload. Finally, copy the file's link by clicking on the link symbol (2).

Then simply past the URL into the "Trust Badge Image URL" field in EliteCart's settings.

You can also adjust the badge's height to ensure it displays properly.

Tip: You can include similar messages in the checkout, too. If you are not on Shopify Plus, you can modify your checkout logo image to include trust badges. All that is outside of EliteCart though.
